Flying Secrets: What You Don’t Know About Planes

Curious about the secrets of pilots, flight attendants and engineers? The employees of airlines came clean in this article from Travelers Today. Check out some of their biggest tips and secrets below!

Lavatories

You may not realize it, but the lavatories can be unlocked from the outside. There is usually a lock mechanism concealed behind the no smoking badge on the door – you can lift up the badge and slide the bolt to unlock.

Think Twice Before Bringing Your Pup

An aircraft fueler confessed that you should think twice before bringing your pup with you on vacation. Aircraft employees on the ramp can stand out there with ear protection, however, your pet is sitting on the same ramp waiting to be loaded onto the plane. All the while they are exposed to a harmful amount of noise. This may lead you to rethink flying with your pets.

Don’t Use the Water

Surprisingly, the water in the lavatory gets routine maintenance, however, parasites build tolerances to the cleanser. You may want to carry hand sanitizer with you to use instead.

Never Drink Water That Didn’t Come from a Bottle

A former cargo agent says to never drink water on an aircraft that did not come from a bottle. The reason is that the ports which purge lavatory wastes and refill the aircraft with potable water are within a foot of each other and sometimes serviced all at once by the same guy.
